Miller added that Digicel is dedicated to providing opportunities for youths in sports - particularly football - and that will be their focus for this season’s Digicel Premier League. “Digicel fully endorses the Digicel Premier League because it acts as a platform to chart young footballers’ progress and it allows players to be selected for the national football team, of which we are a proud sponsor,” informed Miller.
Miller continued by expressing that, “Digicel understands the importance of sustaining the interest of the 0digicel Premier League among football fans and so we continue to find ways to give value back to the fans and supporters. This season, we will drive the crowd to the games by engaging the public to text in their favorite DPL moment; patrons will also have the opportunity to access Digi-Info - which allows them to get updated DPL schedules, scores from daily matches and match updates.”
Digicel Premier League fans will also have the opportunity to take advantage of the new and interactive DPL website that allows them to participate in the DPL Text to Win Competition, get information on their favorite teams and participate in the fan zone, where fans have the option to upload photos of their favorite players.
The Digicel Premier League has been one of Digicel’s biggest sports sponsorships in Jamaica in which the company has invested $150M in a three year contract with the PLCA, not inclusive of activation fees.
“The Digicel Premier League filled a gap in football in Jamaica, allowing community club players to become role models for aspiring Jamaican footballers. Seeing the success of the League and the growth of the players throughout the season is what makes this a worthwhile sponsorship for Digicel”, added Wayne Miller.
